If the cisgender world wants to divide athletes into two categories when the reality of sex and gender is more complex, then there's a human rights based responsibility to make reasonable accommodations so that people who don't fit neatly into these categories get to participate.
What's happening to trans rights in Britain is more chilling than what's happening in the US. In the US there's an ecosystem of zealotry. The people dismantling trans rights openly lie, not just about trans people but about a whole host of things. For them to dismantle human rights feels natural.
This is absolutely absurd. Scottish transphobes post worse about trans people, including Heather, all the time and the police sit on their hands. JKR posted an upskirt photo of a trans person, a clear crime, just this week. No action. Talk about two tier policing. www.bbc.com/news/article...
What the hell is the point of Amnesty International if they back down on defending human rights the second a lawsuit gets thrown at them? Shut the whole thing down right now if that's all you got
Amnesty International has expressed its 'regret' over a report naming dozens of gender-critical campaign groups as 'anti-rights' organisations
Victoria Casey KC argued that the Cass report ‘is generally regarded outside the UK as not sound’.

Bid to overturn ban on puberty blockers for goes to the High Court - Law News
PATHA tells the High Court New Zealand's puberty blocker ban is driven by politics, not medical evidence, as it challenges the Government's policy.

This week's internet brain poisoning brought to you by "of course legalising homosexuality didn't end the world like they said it would, but giving trans people rights DEFINITELY will this is DIFFERENT"
It's now becoming clear that parents who mentioned they had a trans child had their submissions rejected while transphobic parents deadnaming their kids had theirs accepted just fine. Sorry to that dude whining about how parliament staff are just so overworked, but how are we meant to take this?
Quick question: has there been a single instance of a reputable, mainstream, officially recognised organisation coming out in FAVOR of the NZ First Gender Definitions bill? I haven't been able to find a single one.
So five years ago TERFs made BDMRR bill submissions, saying that if it passed, women would face a wave of predatory men in their spaces. It passed and that never happened. Now they are saying that without the Gender Definitions bill, women will face a wave of predatory men in their spaces. 🤔
Given trans people are less than 1% of the population, getting it wrong 4% of the time means you are 4x as likely to misgender a cis woman than spot someone is trans. This is without accounting for the effects of hormones, surgery etc. Absolute madness from the EHRC chair. A "human rights" body.
Stop looking at random womens ’height and gait’ you perverted freaks! Reminder - the Labour government *insisted* that this person be appointed as chair of the EHRC against recommendations of 2 parliamentary select committees.
Even sharks are having a hard time.
Brain tissue of hammerhead sharks caught off the coast of Rio de Janeiro has traces of sertraline — the active ingredient in the antidepressant Zoloft. From our sister site in Brazil: theconversation.com/scientists-f...
I remember North Carolina having to back off its bathroom bill after a concerted pushback and its been wild to witness the wholesale abandonment since.
Being transgender harms no one. Being transphobic harms someone.
Why is Wellington's air quality on the Golden Mile getting worse? Could it be the traffic?!!
What stands out here is the word centrist. That descriptor is an unquestioned positive for Economist columnists, but perhaps not for voters? Centrism connotes staying the course, no big swings. Small c conservatism, in other words. But what if voters wanted major changes?
Seen from abroad it's hard to make sense of what happened to Starmer. Big majority, centrist, fairly united party, no obvious blunders -- and somehow it went off the rail in just a few years. Political scientists will have their work cut out on this one.
If you think Keir Starmer is a 'decent' person, you need to speak to the many, many minorities his government has targeted mercilessly. You can't speak to all of them, however, because many of them are dead because of choices Keir Starmer's government made
National proposing compulsory Kiwisaver during crazy unemployment rates and a cost of living crisis is so funny. Oh yeah you are really responsible doing long term financial planning while people can’t afford meat and electricity right now. Lmfao and the very serious media eating it up too. Nice.

New study finds no clear physical advantage for transgender women over cisgender women in sports
A 52-study review found no clear strength or aerobic advantage for transgender women over cisgender women after hormone therapy.

People somehow seem to believe a social media ban for young people is the "beginning" of some bigger movement to improving social media. It's the opposite. Once the young people are (theoretically) excluded then the platforms are no longer expected to do anything more.
This narrative reframing by Nicola Willis is utterly reprehensible. She is saying she & the coalition government want millions of Kiwis to be underpaid compared to their male counterparts. That is a disgusting stand to take & we must utterly reject it. #nzpol www.stuff.co.nz/politics/360...
Hipkins hammered on the question, ‘if it’s 11 billion bucks, will you pay?’
The Labour leader would respond saying only Nicola Willis was making the claim it would cost that much.

Well as they say men will go for jobs even when they aren’t fully qualified but women tend to not do that 🤷🏽♀️
There’s literally never been a job that I’m the least qualified for in my life than this one LinkedIn 💀😂
Hooten’s appointment as editor of The Post is all kinds of wrong but what it really shows is how gutted media here has become that appointing a non-journalist lobbyist to what should be one of the most prestigious jobs in journalism is obviously considered by the owners as a smart financial move.
I could show you screengrabs of RNZ home page just now but I can't be arsed typing out all the headlines about football, cricket, rugby, so-called USA business stuff Nothing so far about the fact that THOUSANDS of people across Aotearoa rallied against the definitions bill & for trans folks rights
Incredible turnout today in support of our trans community and in opposition of the Government's bigotry and demonisation of our community. Thank you, Poneke. After a few tough weeks I needed this ❤🏳️⚧️
We need a bigger civic square. So many people standing up for trans rights
Protest. Always take theatre kids to a protest because they can a: chant and b: keep the rhythm.
The chuds here in Aoteatoa New Zealand are trying it with the harmful transphobic nonsense bills copy-pasted from the US and UK playbooks, but we queers and our allies have now gathered 23K signatures on our petition against it in less than three weeks. Love. Will. Win. 💪🏳️🌈🩵🩷🤍
NZ First wrote their definitions bill after anti-trans hate group SUFW showed them a petition demanding such a bill. They gathered 2,245 signatures in 4 months This petition *against* the bill just surpassed that in less than 4 hours ❤️ Please stand with us our.actionstation.org.nz/petitions/e-...

E Tū E Kī: They Don’t Speak for Us - Block the Definition of Woman Bill

Comment: The real challenges facing women include the gender pay gap, getting into leadership roles, and safety issues – not the legal definitions of ‘man’ and ‘woman’.
