Video where my congressman has a meltdown after being asked if he’s voting for more money for Israel. He whips out his phone and asks if they support Hamas and Hezbollah and just repeats it over and over like a threenager throwing a tantrum. Just a few years ago this was plainly unacceptable.

One thing that I’ve learned in my study of backlash politics from Reconstruction through the Civil Rights Movement is that backlashers are a persistent bunch. The undoing of Reconstruction took several decades, and post-WWII backlashers looked back on that patient counterrevolution as a model.

No. No legal or political result is final unless the losing side gives up fighting. They will try again. New prez, new judges. There's a social movement based on racial grievance + scapegoating immigrants.
Do they really not realize that losing 5-4 is going to bring these guys back year after year until they flip the holdout and toss the 14th Amendment. They got so close that they can taste it.
