Voted in Ann Arbor. There were more voters than I'd expected for early in the morning at my local polling place. Everyone elsewhere is talking about the Senate race, but that's a much smaller deal here than the mayor/council elections, which are back to our familiar NIMBY vs YIMBY contests.

I wouldn’t be opposed to this if the time zones made sense. But Michigan is so far west of where GMT-5 should be that it effectively already has permanent daylight savings; this would mean we permanently have 2 hours of daylight savings, which isn’t great in winter.

I like that when you check with the local power company about how many have lost power, 300K in the storm that just passed, they lead with the 2 million who haven’t lost power. It’s somehow not that reassuring that they aren’t broken everywhere.
