Well said.
Flora 🍓🏳️⚧️@floramerigold.bsky.social · yesterdayYesterday's news about Jacob Geller broke my heart, so much that I couldn't stop dwelling on it all day. In an effort to make sense of this horrific news and my admittedly complicated feelings about it, here is my article on the Jacob Geller situation: epiloguegaming.com/what-do-we-d...

Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...
The scene in Porco Rosso where Marco tells the story of his most horrific dog fight and subsequently witnessing his best friend and the dead pilots of all wars ascend into the quiet sky has to be one of the best in any Ghibli movie.
porn is so deeply misogynistic. i just watched a video with dozens of performers going at it, and they literally hadn’t bothered to hire a single woman.
Once again the writers at Hollywood Reporter demonstrating they do not know what Old English means.

I have a friend who doesn’t read novels by living authors because the whole book review ecosystem has become so relentlessly, uselessly positive that it’s difficult to impossible to parse what’s worth his time from recommendations alone.
Erik Hane@erikhane.bsky.social · 2w agoFound a take I think that scientifically I could not disagree with more strongly
It’s telling that Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli’s weakest efforts are still hugely influential films any other studio would be proud to call their masterpiece.
They’re playing I Need Some Sleep by Eels on the radio like it’s 2004 and the Shrek 2 original motion picture soundtrack just dropped.
saw this on an ACT UP poster from 1988 at the Poster House museum today. the more things change :)
Leave it to me to make a 4/5 review of an animated masterpiece sound negative. I just wish I could love Princess Mononoke the way so many others do.

I was worried if my comic is perhaps too self indulgent, but then I remembered the words of Björk and now I need to make it even more self indulgent 🥰
Guess we’re gonna start running computers on human neurons before we understand the first thing about consciousness, qualia, and how they arise from neural processes.

If the idea of Slay the Spire x Fucked Up Pokémon sounds like any fun to you, you should give Decktamer a try. I'm loving the tactical loop of it and all the comically grotesque creature designs.
btw Kanye did a song Heil Hitler and no one stepped in to oppose his tour(s), which is ongoing. In fact, Kanye is scheduled to perform at one of the stadiums Macklemore has been stopped from being at.

underrated part of El-Sayed’s messaging strategy seems to be shaming journalists who ask dumb questions that play into right-wing frames. you can’t answer these in a way that satisfies them, but you can make it embarrassing enough that you impose a toll on asking.
I ran Into the Oddish at Strategicon Gateway and was told by organizers it was the most popular game of the con (yes, even more popular than my own game systems 😏). An equally big hit with 8-year-olds and 48-year-olds. So many people asked me to run more sessions of it next time.

I was worried when these two mourning dove chicks disappeared from their nest on our porch joist, but they’re back on the porch wall now and looking none the worse for it! Must’ve learned to fly a little bit.
No punishment I could fantasize about for these people would do anything to change the irreparable harm they’re doing to our world and our future.
