The new Coco tease for Kingdom Hearts IV last night has left me thinking of my friend Brian "Nabeshin" Jackson, who we sadly lost a few years back. He loved KH and his old twitter account still has the somber, but dark comedy-infused pinned tweet "I died before Kingdom Hearts 4 came out."

I appreciate everyone’s support, but people who know me know I’m a person of principle, and one of those principles is don’t let the bastards get away with it. I’m comfortable with what I said, and everyone got to see what kind of man is running Saber. This is my official public statement. ❤️

Everything I said was true. Here’s more truth: that statement is remarkably pathetic for the CEO of any company to be making, and combined with the AI use it will do far more damage to Saber’s reputation than it ever could mine. This screed will be many people’s first exposure to the Saber brand.

This is not uncommon for launch in the US. Day 1 buyers are price insensitive and FOMO sensitive. And it's not just the biggest games. Any game with a dedicated fanbase (RPG, Sport, whatever) will generally have a high day 1 premium edition share. Post-launch splits change considerably.

GTA 6 Boss Says More People Are Pre-Ordering the $100 Version of the Game Than the Standard Edition, but Don't Get Your Hopes Up for a Holiday Sale

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans are pre-ordering the $100 Ultimate Edition more than the standard edition of the game.

I used to be confused watching Americans refuse to stick up for themselves or even allow OTHERS to advocate for things like workers rights (because doing so is Woke Commie Shit America Perfect Fuck You), but it clicked when I found out they make you pledge allegiance to the flag every day as a kid.

This bit feels important. Zelnick - "with our optimism about streaming services over the next three years, we think the audience for our console and PC games could be 10X or more the size of the business today.” So, expecting a massive cloud push over next 3 years. Question is from where.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says he’s “not in the least” concerned that a row with a trade union could negatively impact the launch of GTA 6. Plus, he explains why a code-in-a-box is important, and the prospect of a declining console install base www.thegamebusiness.com/p/could-no-p...

Logging back on properly for the first time in days: - EA officially is officially owned and run by the Saudi government and Jared Kushner - Rockstar is posting trailers exclusively to Netflix for 6 hours - Nintendo gave a nun a gun

Just to be clear on this article, the position I took isn't "developers need to be more brave" but "funding needs to be more brave". Developers make all the cool stuff, just because they want to - the funding side hits it with market research and fear and growth targets and shareholders.
