Denmark confirms that NATO (European forces) will be the main defence force for Greenland. Arctic defence will continue to be under NATO command. US role unclear, reports from early 2026 indicate US forces lack the equipment and expertise to operate effectively in Arctic conditions.

Greenland will remain part of Denmark under a planned US-Denmark-Greenland security deal, despite Trump claiming the US secured “permanent control.” The pact preserves access & rights US already held since 1951. Denmark retains sovereignty and Danish & Greenlandic parliament still need to approve.

Removing basic amenities such as laundry rooms and cramming more prisoners in the same square footage doesn’t sound like it will help with the crisis in prison conditions. Which is fine if all you want from prison is temporary warehousing of people. Less so if you want to stop people reoffending.

Next time you visit York, take note of this carving of a plague doctor outside York Minster Cathedral. It was recently carved out of magnesian limestone to replace figures eroded by time, as part of the ongoing restoration of the East Front. I love this little fellow.
