Scot living in Amsterdam, Trans nerd, she/her

Last week I presented my research on what the trans+ community wanted doctors to learn at #ASME2026 c/o @asmeofficial.bsky.social Went down really well, plus I got this great picture where I'm explaining the art was created by @happytoast.co.uk and not AI, and maybe more importantly, who the cat is

Lisa standing in front of a TV that has a slide that says thank you and has her contact details on it. It also includes a drawing of her holding a grey cat in one arm and waving a trans flag with her free hand. Lisa is gesturing towards this with a very big smile on her face. She is wearing a floral purple and green dress that fades to black at the bottom, and a lanyard with her conference ID.

Today is my 5 year tranniversary 🎉 I've experienced so many highs & lows but gone through surviving, into persisting, & now thriving despite the world's best efforts. Wouldn't change a thing Seems like a perfect occasion to share one of the amazing pics @happytoast.co.uk drew for me ❤️ (Thx HT!)

Artwork of Lisa by HappyToast. She is wearing a multicoloured dress with lots of white, pink, and blue colours in it. her dreadlocked hair is tied into a bun at the back, with a loose bit of hair at the front that fades from red through blue. In her left hand she is cradling Tsuki, a grey long haired cat, and in the other she is waving a trans flag. She has a huge smile!

Cities dismantled their tram networks to become “motor cities of the future”. The result? You could travel further within 30 mins via public transport in 1957 than you can in 2026. Cities are seeking billions to rebuild networks. Incredible piece of work this.

If you stood on Briggate at 8am on a weekday in 1957, and stood there again in 2026, in which year could you reach more of the city in half an hour? Samuel Bancroft has crunched the numbers. Since the 1950s, Leeds has got bigger - but the city has effectively shrunk.

Why is anyone using GitHub for commercial projects at this point? Gitlab has more features in most respects and their more traditional CI system is so much more powerful.

"openai.com" was once the personal homepage of a guy named glenn (2001), and "tiktok.com" was the quaint shared homepage of a couple as their relationship progressed from dating to married with a baby (2000). THREAD!!!

This book "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" by Lindsay C. Gibson was a very educational and insightful book. I learned a lot about myself and it taught me about what I lacked when growing up, especially being a gay child, but also in my adult life in relations with family. #booksky

There is a wholescale concerted effort to rebrand trans children as gender questioning children. If the whole group are re-labelled, then they cannot claim rights as a minority group. If they are all re-labelled, then conversion efforts can just about helping them 'explore their gender'.

Why does everything in Britain feel like there's a big "CLOSING DOWN: EVERYTHING MUST GO!" sign in the sky? This society wouldn't have built a sewage system.

If you're in need of positive and rather wholesome news, there's a high school teacher named Bryan who took a ton of freely licensed celebrity headshots at the New York Film Festival last month for Wikipedia, and I truly can't believe how drastic the upgrade is for some articles (thread)
