Obama was terrible for international policy. The strength of global authoritarianism we see today has its origins in Obama-era policies of downplaying the threat of Russia under Putin. He laughed at Mitt Romney in the debate when Romney said Russia, not China, was the great threat.
Russia is a “peaceful” country — if you ignore the several dozen nations it has invaded, occupied, or bombed over the past few centuries. Peace, russian-style, just tends to involve someone else’s territory.
