Absolutely unbelievable how solar power has taken off worldwide during the Hormuz oil crisis. You don't have to hand it to him, but Trump may have done more to finally kick off a global civilization of effete librul solar users than anyone else in the West

Chart showing solar panel exports from China (the main solar panel maker by a long shot) growing steadily & mightily from 2018 through 2026, then spiking by almost 2x in March 2026.

Russia still supplies fuel to occupied Crimea via the Kerch ferry route. Ukraine struck all five ferries in July, leaving three critically damaged. The remaining two, Lavrentiy and Panagia, now operate as non-self-propelled barges towed by tugboats.

Noteworthy: German government is now making emergency plans in case of a far-right victory in Saxony Anhalt - in case of a non-cooperative regional government, the ability to quickly move NATO troops through Germany should not be impacted.

Many in Europe assume our air forces would effortlessly crush Russia in a war, but we simply don't have the munitions for it. We desperately need larger stockpiles of air-launched munitions, particularly cruise missiles

What LLMs can do in science is being undersold or actively ignored by the scientific community My larger concern is that AI does seem to enhance progress and discovery for scientists who already know how to think and do science, but will it simply undermine that core ability for new generations?

This is what is driving me nuts. So many posters around here keep haw-hawing about R’s in strawberry and clearly have NO idea that these are extremely powerful machines *already* that we have not yet figured out how to utilize fully. If we stopped development today, they’d still be astonishing

So many sneering elitist journalists with snarky posts over the past months that the Reflecting Pool story was trivial. It was so trivial that the DC US Attny presented false evidence to a grand jury to indict an innocent man to please the President while they both lied about it.

So the USA is going to institute a land blockade against Iran? I am personally so excited to see US ground forces go back into Afghanistan--let alone see them try and start patrolling in Pakistan and Turkmenistan. The US is so screwed it is now writing science fiction.

Exactly. At least in Denmark I've seen too many commentators confidently state that it's got to be an accident because Russia wouldn't dare do such a thing on purpose. Of course they would! Putin is losing a war and that makes people very tolerant of running risks.

Regardless of whether the missile strike on Poland is intentional hybrid warfare or an accident, the effect is likely the same. Russia gets to sow fear and “salami slice” NATO further by observing where our boundaries go below the threshold of a formal war

John Mearsheimer has started a new YouTube channel, and he has gotten almost 80k subscribers in two days. It boggles the mind. Few people have been so consistently wrong about the war in Ukraine as Mearsheimer, and yet, people are still lining up to hear his takes.

Remember, we’re still waiting for the 1,000-for-1,000 prisoner exchange that President Trump publicly attached his name to, an exchange that never happened. As part of that, Putin got his Victory Day celebrations. So forgive me if I don’t get my hopes up.

I feel a lot people reading it get the wrong idea. Yes they did, it's cheap and efficient. But Ukraine uses 5k interceptors, you might say. They do, among other things. Ukraine has 60-70 000 men in AD duty. They use everything including F-15 and Patriots and IRIS-T and yes a lot of cheap drones 1/2
