I have always been so haunted by the story of Marcy Borders. She may have survived 9/11, that day, that attack, but her life was a misery afterward. She deserved so much more than being referred to as “the Dust Lady.” I’m glad the King Center posted this remembrance.

Post 9/11 thread for people to post the wildest shit they remember from 01 to 06 I'll start: People thought Osama had an entire mountain hollowed out that he was using as his base and that's why AQ was hard to find and that somehow a group of like 30 dudes arranged this.

Ten Days After 9/11, Future American Pope Warned Against Seeking Revenge
Ten days after the towers fell, the new prior general preached at Santa Maria del Popolo that hatred grows where 24,000 people die of hunger every day. Twenty-five years later, he is the pope.

🧵 Mark Bingham was a proud rugby player, member of the Cal national championship team in 1991, & a proud, out gay man. Together with Todd Beamer, Jeremy Glick, Tom Burnett, & likely others, he fought the Flight 93 hijackers on 9/11 to prevent the plane from hitting a Capitol target.
*blinks* “More than 150 employees at the cloud services giant Digital Ocean protested last year after its CEO explained in an all-hands meeting that his former mentor was a member of the Ku Klux Klan, which he said shows how employees can work together despite holding different beliefs.”
HUH?! WHAT?!
I'm a white Arab American. Most ppl would never know that's my background by looking at me. The day after 9/11, family friends, who did not know, where at the house and openly talking about how all Arabs and Muslims in the US should be rounded up into camps. I was 12 years old. We were never united.
This is the "Charlie Brown had hoes" of the center now. You didn't experience this. It didn't happen. This wasn't real.
I, the only data reporter at the Charlotte Observer, am among the McClatchy layoffs in the bloodbath today. The HR person asked me not to talk about it! AMA. Anyway, here’s a link to one of my most important stories this year. www.charlotteobserver.com/news/local/a...
A Black teen found hanged near Charlotte church was a suicide, police say. Questions remain
In May, 16-year-old Juliana Nzita was found dead in a Charlotte churchyard. CMPD called it a suicide. Her family isn’t so sure.

Last month, the Pentagon fired the publisher and editor-in-chief of Stars and Stripes. Two opposite headlines this morning show the results were swift.
I worked for OnStar on 9/11, and sitting on the phone trying to help drivers get out of the city with no GPS and inaccurate or zero information was a formative moment in my understanding of our dependence on technology.
Over six months, we tracked the appearance of child sexual abuse material on X. We found images from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's database, which is considered one of the most highly vetted and which many tech companies block on upload. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/11/t...
Elon Musk Has Pledged to Rid His Platform, X, of Child Sexual Abuse, but It Persists
Reviews by the Canadian Center for Child Protection and The New York Times found that explicit images of children remain on the social media site owned by Elon Musk.

Mamdani's channeling of Indian retail politics upending the entire US political framework is hilarious to watch, this is literally what you always do in desi politics, hug the person who called you names to show you're a saint and he's a piece of shit that voters should look down on- and it works

When we hit 1 million dead from covid (and we will, if we haven’t already, hit 2 million) nothing was said, no memorial was had, and I wonder how much of that is because we can’t go to war over it.
i think america forcing a national cult of mourning around 9/11 while simultaneously using it as a cause de guerre to kill and displace millions globally, thereby over time turning their own tragedy into an object of ridicule is just about the most american thing to have ever happened
My father sat me down and began to explain. He started to talk about the Japanese internment camps, how people who had nothing to do with anything became imprisoned. It was the first time it dawned on me how race worked, how conditional our safety was. 4/
Pretending the days after Sept. 11, 2001 were some kind of gauzy Hallmark special when we came together as a country is nauseating and ahistorical. The country went completely insane and has not recovered
Look at this loathsome repulsive creature yelling at a reporter. In addition to the fact that he’s the worst president in US history, he’s one of the worst human beings on planet earth. His supporters have a very serious defect in their character.
The last speaker at the 9/11 remembrance ceremony lost his father to the attacks.

I've spent my entire career reporting on the War on Terror. Many this week have asked me for my extended thoughts on the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Here they are.
Today We Must Finally Remember What The 9/11 Commemorations Ignore
Righteous victimhood fueled the War on Terror. 25 years later, we also have to remember all of those slain under its banner

Trump lunges toward and growls at a reporter (a woman) who asked him about why he's offering money to voters if his economic policies are working (Andrew Harnik/Getty)
Q: On the checks, we have $40t in debt. If your economic policies are working, why do you need an incentive for people to turn out to vote? T: I'm doing it as a reward for having to put up w/Biden Q: You also offered tariff refunds-- TRUMP: Not you Q: And that didn't happen T: You're the worst
This is the interview Trump’s FCC doesn’t want you to see. We’re not just going up against the most corrupt politician in Texas. We’re going up against this entire corrupt system.
Every last person who makes deals with Trump: "I know this guy cheats and fucks over everyone he works with, but I'm built different". Every last person after working with Trump:
It's almost the 25th anniversary of 9/11/2001. Over 3000 Americans lost. And we went to war with the wrong country. Resulting in hundreds of thousands dead. So much anti-Arab, anti-Muslim sentiment. And a deliberate effort to invade and erode our privacy, which has snowballed to today.
