#Bugsky 🐙🌿 Shared with me by a fof in SoCal - this is a gynandromorph (both male & female) valley carpenter bee (Xylocopa sonorina). Females are black, males orange, so the extreme color dimorphism really stands out. Per Doug Yanega at UC Riverside, bee gynandromorphs he’s seen are mosaic instead—

In this particular species (Xylocopa sonorina), females are jet black and males are fuzzy orange. This one has an abdomen that is divided into four perfect quadrants, like a checkerboard, alternating orange and black. The thorax is mostly black but with some orange.

This is a tricky one! Based on the specific clues, the answer is most likely a Microchip (or Computer Processor/CPU). Here is the breakdown of why this fits: "I am made of metal": Chips are made of silicon (a metalloid), copper, and gold. Doing the inverse of this - making up a nonsense riddle for it to solve -kind of shows the problem with a program like ChatGPT. It will always try to generate a string of text in response to queries, and is obviously tuned towards saying *anything* at all. Hyper-verbal bullshit generator.

This is a very precious handful! Socorro doves are one of five #birds listed as extinct in the wild. The entire surviving population of roughly 200 birds are all in the care of avian experts.   Eight chicks hatched at Chester Zoo this summer. It's a big boost for this incredibly rare species! 🌎🦇🐦
