We are delighted to announce a new specialization in the Philosophy of the Arts! I'm really excited we were able to put this together in a time of austerity.

The Netherlands is a lovely place! The cities are charming and walkable, the people friendly and honest, the food is often sufficient for typical calorific needs.
@Eurostar just denied passage to me, a single mother travelling alone with my two small children. We tried to show our tickets on the app to the worker on carriage 15 of the 15:53 from Brussels to Amsterdam. No help, no sympathy for a mother travelling alone. Shame on Eurostar!

US judge finds probable cause to hold Trump officials in contempt over alien act deportations
Judge also warned White House that if it stonewalled contempt proceedings he would appoint independent prosecutor * US politics live – latest updates A federal judge ruled on Wednesday that there was probable cause to hold Trump officials in criminal contempt for violating his temporary injunction that barred the use of the Alien Enemies Act wartime power to deport alleged Venezuelan gang members. In a scathing 46-page opinion, James Boasberg, the chief US district judge for Washington, wrote that senior Trump officials could either return the people who were supposed to have been protected by his injunction, or face contempt proceedings. If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

Analysis | One week ago, Pete Hegseth's embarrassing Signalgate dominated the news, and Trump needed to change the narrative. By tanking the world economy, he's done exactly that. The grand master of four-dimensional chess remains undefeated. by Chris Cillizza

We are in the midst of what many consider the most promising pancreatic cancer cure research in decades. This is literally joining the War on Cancer on the side of cancer. It's happening in multiple departments. They're also attacking mRNA fax science which is the heart of the possible breakthrough.
They just cut $20M of pancreatic cancer research from DoD. Who the hell could be thinking they won’t be targeted?
one of the most baffling parts of this. I spent the last decade or so prepping to make the "first they came for ethnic studies" version of the Niemoller point to libs. while they did (see the CRT offensive and book bans) I absolutely did not think children's cancer researchers would be next in line
Someone really needs to point out to Bret Stephens types that burning down the entire university to get to the ethnic studies department is unlikely to work, because lots of people who would otherwise throw them to the wolves now see themselves as de facto on the same side as them.
Omg 😱. This is *awful*. I was expecting to push hard on submission to CDMRP funding opps for our cancer research this year, and it looks like cancer opps are gone. $1.5B total funding, slashed by 57% www.statnews.com/2025/03/24/t...

I fear this strategy will be effective in undermining one of the currently most robust avenues for fighting the authoritarian overreaches of the Tr*mp admin. As ideologically and economically backward and incoherent as the Admin is, the tactics are at least somewhat means-ends rational.
This isn't a "Marc Elias" memo. It's a clear warning to all biglaw firms to stop representing clients that the administration dislikes, lest they suffer the same fate as Perkins Coie or those other Quislings. And it's a warning that I expect most of the white shoe set will recognize and heed.
