Today I got to meet Tammy Suitor, Disaster Relief Manager for Samaritan's Purse Canada. When I called her on Saturday, she was in Calgary. Within a few hours, she was making plans to set up emergency operations in Ottawa, and I'm forever grateful. She's here to help, and she's a professional. 1/

Today, the caseworkers from my office and from @catmckenney.bsky.social’s team are at Centre 507. Ann and Ty are helping people access the housing registry, free income tax clinics, mental health supports and other resources. Grateful to these two for their incredible community care.

Last summer I took a ride with the folks at ATU279 doing their best to keep Ottawa moving. A federal government cutting $5 billion for transit and a province that won't pay their fair share — transit workers are doing their best, but chronic underfunding is hurting public transit in Ottawa.

Here's a visualization of how Watson and Sutcliffe's austerity impacted our bus fleet since 2010. This was never a sustainable path and now we're left with too few buses on the best of days, let alone enough to cover for an LRT service disruption.

The vile antisemitic terror attack at a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach that took the lives of 11 people was an unspeakable act of hate and violence. To target people gathered in faith and joy is hate in its most violent form.
