Whatever happens we all really enjoyed your Clacton promos and campaign videos. Even if the alternative was not corrupt and pure evil your campaign was uplifting and entertaining to watch. Good luck. 💙

I was gonna joke "Won't anybody think of the shareholders" but I just looked and per Wikipedia, Bluesky Social PBC is a public benefit corporation (PBC), not obligated to maximize shareholder profit.

Climate-conscious individual choices are good – but not nearly enough to save the planet. More than personal virtue, we need collective action

If Europe ever finds itself with much lower emissions than the world average, let’s come back to this discussion, but in the meantime, Europe has a duty to itself and the rest of the world to cut its emissions as quickly as possible. 9/

Yet still people say “what’s the point in us acting if the rest of the world doesn’t”. The rest of the world is. It turns out Africans, Asians and South Americans also want a habitable planet. And green tech is often the cheapest option over the long term. 4/

It's probably time European journalists wrapped their heads around Heat Index (temp + relative humidity). In high humidity, sweating is less efficient, making heat worse, e.g.: Experiencing 35°C in London UK (70% RH) is more dangerous than 50°C in Phoenix Arizona (15% RH)

There's really nothing to recommend it. You should bullshit yourself! Tell yourself you're good, you're capable, that a setback is an opportunity, a rejection is a chance to learn & grow, you're well-rested, things are going to work out, the world will take care of you. You'll be happier!

Basically, you can make yourself happier & more successful by having a better attitude. Or you can make yourself miserable by having a worse attitude. In no way is the latter option admirable. It's not more "realistic." It's not "tougher" or "truer." It involves no less BS, no less fooling yourself.

It really is the case that, if you approach life like a naive, eager, excited, happy person ... you'll feel better & do better! You will experience more positive feelings & life events. In other words, the absolute best thing you can do ... is to bullshit yourself! It's the f'ing key to happiness!

How about a long, slightly depressing, completely non-political thread? My brain--my stupid, stupid brain--has always found it extremely important that I *not bullshit myself*. Am I thinking that someone likes me? That I did something good? That good things are coming in the future? Uh oh...

Happy to say that I have been entrusted with the coordination of our Transformative Innovation Lab at ZSI following @philste.bsky.social who has unfortunately left us. Looking forward to promote the wonderful work done in the lab and to explore future opportunities together with my great colleagues
