It was OTD in 1994 the magnificent Peter Cushing left us at the age of 81. A man of immense dignity and grace, and for me the definitive cinematic Baron Frankenstein and Professor Van Helsing.

39 years ago today, Dream Warriors premiered & rewired my brain. True scares and wildly inventive kills, plus a sassy monster. And that gothic synch score by Badalamenti is GREAT. The one sheet that hung in my childhood bedroom is now properly framed in my living room. Happy Dream Warriors day!

I still think it was a disservice to cinema understanding when we allowed discourse to playfully apply the label of "Worst Filmmaker Ever" to Ed Wood. He had a specific style and canon we're still discussing decades later. The runaway notion of "so bad it's good" often overlooks art's malleability.
