New York City’s business elites are long accustomed to direct access to City Hall, where even Democratic mayors felt the need to court the city’s wealthiest and most influential corporate leaders. That access is getting shredded by Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

To my mind this is the outcome of EU interior ministers’ (Dorbrindt in particular) empirically ungrounded obsession with migration. Is migration a policy challenge? Certainly. Are bigger security threats being ineffectively managed because migration sucks all the oxygen out of the room? Definitely.

My initial view of German trains is they aren't just bad, but utterly catastrophic, sweeping cancellations far in excess of any reasonable system, and everyone just shrugging that this is normal. As a symbol of a fading economic giant it is perfect.

Funny how national governments consider that the sale of golden passports to dodgy rich people is a strictly national competence, but regularizing migrants who are working for a living is not.

This concept was introduced to me as "run the dishwasher twice" and was an important part of my executive functioning recovery as well as my path to self-acceptance.

It is genuinely bizarre that we’ve become acclimatized to right wingers throwing a tantrum every time a black person (particularly a black woman) is cast in something, but are also supposed to pretend that this is not racism but related to some other substantive concern.

Can't tell, but it looks like the woman in the beach chair has her phone out to film a video of the wildfire, which means this is actually photographic documentation of the "climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones" meme.
