It’s a direct attack on rule of law from the highest levels, aimed at permanently ending US Constitutional democracy and imposing a dictatorship. Always has been. Anyone who tries treating it as something else—as if they’re dealing with mistaken impressions rather than lies—gets egg on their face.

So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.
Look at Trump's serial failures, his obvious decline, the disastrous poll numbers for the GOP, the abysmal quality of their candidates, their complete absence of accomplishments, their betrayal of their base, the absence of post-Trump leaders emerging...and tell me the Dems are the ones w/problems.
The decisive failure of GOP referenda in Kansas Amendment 1 and Missouri Amendment 4 yesterday is yet another reminder of something I've been saying for a while: Voters, even Republican voters, now regularly despise and repudiate GOP attempts to use them to destroy democracy.

I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

Gill: All 100 senators last week passed a non-binding resolution condemning any pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell. They're simultaneously considering confirming the guy who met with her and moved her to a low-security facility as the top cop in the United States. That is so insane to me.

It’s like when ICE murders someone and they say “and the person they killed wasn’t even the target of the warrant”. Like, no police or military should be wantonly murdering people no matter who they are.

Preemptive counter strawman: No, I don’t think NYT declining this one lie-laden op-ed would change election outcomes, or even impact Paramount’s Warner bid. I do not claim it’s transformative. I think news orgs should value truth for its own sake. For journalistic integrity, fourth estate reasons.
