My exploration into the background of a classic monograph written by one of the most influential figures in ecology remains a career highlight for me. Even more so because this book inspired me to view bioinvasions as a form of human-driven global change. I can't resist reposting the story.
In 2020 Dan Simberloff & I published an annotated 2nd edition of Elton's classic 1958 monograph Ecology of Invasions by Animals and Plants, the book that inspired me as a student. We added 9 chapter forewords, an introduction & conclusion that placed Elton's ideas into a 21st century context. ...1/🧵
