My university is doing this too. Walk into most buildings on campus (*don't know about dorms) and you can find a cart with food and sometimes warm clothes on it. On the one hand, friendly, supportive, and community-spirited. On the other hand, dystopian af that this is necessary.

Free grocery stores are opening across the U.S. to help address food insecurity and high grocery prices. Unlike at some food pantries, customers shopping at these stores can choose their own foods, often in private, instead of standing in line for whatever is available on a given day.

The term "Luddite" as a pejorative synonym for "technophobe" was a technocrat PR coup; that's not what Luddites were about. They were a labour movement fighting to give workers control over technologies which were advancing w/o oversight and rapidly automating them out of their jobs. Sound familiar?
