Sometimes regulations exist to keep competitors out of markets, random requirements increasing entry costs for foreign or small producers. Getting rid of them increases competition. Other regulations exist to prevent companies from killing people. If you get rid of them people die.

Trans people are banned from everything and can barely name their oppressors lest they are monstered by the media and in parliament. Never mind the threat of jail for not disclosing being trans before a sexual encounter or even for saying some shit. It's surreal being trans in the UK right now.
that sorta is the disconnect though. i think about politics as something that has life and death effects on millions. i think it would be nice if the people actually empowered to enact those decisions treated it with the requisite moral seriousness, rather than a game they play with 'colleagues'

Mainstream Respectable opinion is that people joking about a bad person's death represents a culture of cruelty, but really it represents a culture of impunity. It's a coping mechanism for watching someone do evil their whole life and never seeing consequences
