Americans have more confidence in higher education than in big tech companies, and the gap is growing rather than shrinking. The higher ed-doomsday pundits need to get on board with the real vibe shift in public trust that is happening right now.

I look forward to all the reports & coverage about all of the internal problems & mistakes of all of these other institutions, in the same way that universities are constantly blamed (& blaming themselves) for “declining trust.” “Compared to what?” news.gallup.com/poll/712436/...

Police murdered a Black man in the street in Madison WI today. Shot point blank in the head while on the ground, tased, and surrounded by four cops. It looks like an execution. Multiple videos circulating online. Things are about to get very bad here.

I have a theory about the general impatience and lack of tolerance people have not only for children, but for any and all habits of others they find annoying. I think it stems from the cultural shift away from public spaces to being home all the time.

I cannot overstate how much I hate when people are dicks about babies crying in public (especially airplanes). Do you think the parent is having a good time right now?? Do you think they are not aware of the situation??? Are you going to negotiate with a literal infant????

If you fill a room with 1,000 people who each earn one dollar a year and one person who earns a million dollars, the median income of that room is $500,000 and everyone in the third and fourth quintile is earning one dollar a year. Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Personally, I think people who are between the third and fourth quintile of income-earners in California should probably pay some income tax.

Tweet from Katie Porter: 0% state income tax for California families making under $100,000. That’s thousands of dollars back in your pocket where it belongs.

As Governor, I’ll work the issue at both ends—lowering taxes for those who are struggling and raising them on the biggest corporations that can afford to pay.

a 2028 campaign ad where the average american voter is represented as the guy from memento but all the tattoos are like “every republican president destroys the economy and starts a war in the middle east“ or “trump was president during covid”

People aren't wrong to compare the Trump era to the Nazis, but what worries me is how much it's like the Soviets: Pretending everything is working right and going great when it's all really falling apart, and marginalizing anyone who dares speaks the truth. When is our Chernobyl coming?

I have to admit that I was not feeling much hope for Sonny Burton, so this is an amazing relief. We at @uscedp.bsky.social are still new as a public-facing organization, and seeing thousands and thousands of people join this effort was more than we hoped for. Thank you. www.waff.com/2026/03/10/g...

Gov. Ivey commutes Charles “Sonny” Burton’s death sentence

For just the second time, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has used her powers to order the commutation of a prisoner’s death sentence.

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist. He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.

As much as I honor the memory of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, it's a HUGE problem that we don't see the same rage and awareness when Border Patrol murders a non-white, non-citizen. Whatever you think of undocumented immigration, it is not punishable by death. This is murder, plain and simple.

They beat a blind refugee who speaks no English for failing to obey police commands he could not understand. Then instead of apologizing, they charged him with possession of a “weapon”—HIS WALKING STICK. Then they dumped him miles from home without notifying anyone, after which he was found dead.

There are a LOT of reasons why that "I think of horses" ai boosterism thing is bad. In part because it's entirely ignorant of history, horses, human's relationship with them, etc. And also it's entirely ignorant of the history of coaching, the electric engine, the combustion engine, and oil.
