"Indie games" (itself an overly broad term at this point) aren't going to "save" games; there's a whole list of factors at play with what's going on, but man At this point independently produced games feel like about the only ethical option.

I kinda feel like the writing is on the wall now. We're seeing a spike in insider trading as everyone gets out before a crash, countries are instituting rules that make it functionally impossible to be profitable because AI bros were banking on literally zero externalities, etc.

I changed the way I work a couple of months ago to follow this advice, it made a big difference and my productivity went up by miles. (I don't know who made this image, if you do, let me know so they can be credited)
