Rockstar workers in @gameworkers.co.uk are determined to push union recognition over the line by whatever means necessary, so we can continue making progress on our key aims: an end to ‘crunch’, pay transparency, flexible working, and commitments to no AI or layoffs. 1/5

Here’s the latest stop motion animation from my Tiny Angry Witch team. (I’m the writer, I can’t take credit for the animating!) It’s one of our longest, and it nearly drove us all mad, but we’re really proud of getting it made! 1 x Tiny Angry Witch 1 x broom No AI
Some of my favorite designs- hey! don't just collect them, use them in your game! There are 40 more in my sale itch.io/s/181080/ok-...
I‘ve been thinking about doing something similar but with knitting. Only it would take about a year just for the sprites. #pixelart #gamedev #indiedev
What do you fucking mean they embroidered all the sprites
"Indie games" (itself an overly broad term at this point) aren't going to "save" games; there's a whole list of factors at play with what's going on, but man At this point independently produced games feel like about the only ethical option.
I’m thinking, as a consumer, what‘s the right course of action? Is it possible to put enough pressure on corporations? Or is it our obligation to educate our fellow gamers not to support them?

For everyone still caught up in the „knit or crochet“ question, 300year old icelandic blanket says the people back then already knew that BOTH, IN THE SAME PROJECT is the answer.
If you‘ve got loved ones that knit or crochet, for the love of yarn, don‘t gift them… well, yarn! (Unless they specifically asked for a certain amount of a certain yarn of course.)
Flying to Iceland now. Anyone volunteering to finish my game if I crash?
There's always that stage of music composition that feels like piecing together a puzzle where none of the pieces fit together so I have to cut each of them to shape. Can anyone relate?

Since their arrival, generative AI models and their trainers have demonstrated their ability to download any online content for model training. For content owners and creators, few tools can prevent their content from being fed into a generative AI model against their will. Opt-out lists have been disregarded by model trainers in the past, and can be easily ignored with zero consequences. They are unverifiable and unenforceable, and those who violate opt-out lists and do-not-scrape directives can not be identified with high confidence.

A good resource to help resisting GenAI I just discovered thanks to @drkatedevlin.bsky.social talk at #emfcamp: airesistlist.org (the talk: media.ccc.de/v/emf2026-19...)

I contend that Super Mario Bros 3 for the #SNES is not only the best #Mario games ever, but it’s the greatest home video game ever made for any system. I remember the visceral rush of playing that game for 3 days straight almost nonstop when it was first released. #Nintendo #gamesky #dailynerdfix

I kinda feel like the writing is on the wall now. We're seeing a spike in insider trading as everyone gets out before a crash, countries are instituting rules that make it functionally impossible to be profitable because AI bros were banking on literally zero externalities, etc.
Australia is planning some of the world's toughest AI regulations • Water usage will be limited • AI data centers will be required to become net producers of energy • AI companies can't train on Australian creators' work without their permission • Proposals expected to be introduced in 2027
i think taking a longer break from a project is a great way to learn which parts of your code are unreadable as the fuck did I do there did I really write this what was i think taking a longer break from a project is a great

I changed the way I work a couple of months ago to follow this advice, it made a big difference and my productivity went up by miles. (I don't know who made this image, if you do, let me know so they can be credited)
