John Scalzi@scalzi.com · 3d agoAnyone who doesn't think we had autistic kids back in the day didn't know the kids I knew in elementary school, the ones that were called "hyper" or "spastic" or were suspected of having "water on the brain," etc. Kids today are a lot better off with a formal diagnosis and treatment.

Rebecca Solnit@rebeccasolnit.bsky.social · 4d agoOne thing I remember and hardly anyone seems to is that there's a sort of sexual revolution interregnum when all sex was good (seen from the adult male perspective, which it mostly was) including sex with children, which was publicly defended. Feminism, mostly, is what changed that.

Like many tech solutions to the climate crisis, the key appeal of CCS is the notion that we don't have to make any contentious and/or significant systemic or lifestyle changes.
