This has been said by others but there is a massive lane for a liberal arts college that states they will not use AI or allow the use of AI in their classes. Kind of like focusing on the great books. I bet Silicon Valley types would send their kids there.
This sort of top down mandate is so stupid. I happen to use AI fairly regularly and also teach my students how to appropriately use AI but this should be left to subject matter experts.

I complain about Missouri a lot, but sometimes—a lot of times, in fact^—the people get it right when initiative petitions give them the opportunity. Never did I imagine that 80 percent would reject this wrongheaded plan and the repeal of the income tax.

Outstanding insight into likely effects of student visa time limits on study and post-study training. Other countries will absorb some, but not all of the talent. The setback to scientific progress will concentrate in the US but will be global in scope and have lasting if not permanent effects.

Nope. No way. Causing mass death, breaking laws, corruption, and essentially executing a big cyber attack on the US is not the sort of thing one accidentally stumbles into. “Oops, I got carried away” is a reasonable reaction when you eat extra brownies that were saved for someone else. Not for this.

If this persists over the long term it has to lead to a decline in the quality of the university. They will always be able to hire but people who are able to (ie the most productive faculty) will leave prior to tenure decision time.

This is a great point. And funny enough the decline in trust in higher ed is lower than these other institutions. It is without question true that higher ed is terrible at lobbying and propaganda compared to these other entities.
