Spectroscopy can help you know what is in the unknown sample of liquid your hero finds at the enemy base. It helps us know what stars are made of.

Experience comes from the effort of grappling with difficult problems and seeing the guts of how problems develop and then solving them. You gain a lot from sitting with a problem and looking at it from a lot of angles. It's the network of knowledge that defined expertise, and that grows from work
