I’ve gotten email invites to tech startup events (specifically AI stuff) in northern Utah like 9 times this year. I haven’t worked in tech in over a decade. I have no idea where these folks keep finding my email address, but I would appreciate it if they could lose it.

I will forever be jealous of Angie’s ability to have a multiple-hour nap in the middle of the day and still be asleep by 9:30 PM. I, on the other hand, woke up an hour earlier than usual today to get bike stuff prepped, had no nap, and I’m still wired 30 minutes after “bedtime.”

Wesley and I put together a bike rack on Friday, so this morning we loaded it up for a maiden voyage. We got a little bit of rain last night which helped keep the dust down at the trails. It was nice to get out and ride with Angie and the kids!

Christopher Nolan is less than two years older than me, we were both born in London. Makes me wonder what I might have achieved in my career if I had been phenomenally more talented and disciplined. Oh well, back to playing video games I guess.

Rise of Skywalker is the worst Ive ever seen, but also I saw the 2nd Michael Bay Transformers movie on my birthday and left the theater almost shaking with rage. I’ll be doing Vegas and San Diego regionals for sure this year. Kind of looking at options for ICs, but not setting anything in stone before the Worlds 27 location is announced. I’d also love to know where the other 4-5 US/Canada regionals are going to be. SLC would make 2027 an incredible schedule.

We live in an era where testing, grades, writing, teaching conditions, and reading are all simultaneously in forms of crisis, and, to my mind, the common denominator is a complete lack of focus and intention on learning as the desired outcome of education.

A reminder that as you see photos of those Patriot Front douchebags today, they are marching on a holiday because none of them have anywhere else to be. None of them have friends or family who want them around on a holiday. No one is missing them today. They're already with their only friends.
