Oil companies are evil. They are paying politicians to protect their profits by destroying democracy.

Of 22,000 ICE officers, only ONE faced discipline for violating use-of-force policies in 18 months. A Northern Virginia mom experienced the consequences of ICE’s broken accountability system. Any ICE officer who abuses their power in this way must be investigated & held accountable.

Who is the last person in the world who should get a $158 million contract to represent unaccompanied migrant children? How about an ex-ICE agent accused of sex trafficking? And yet in the Trumpian news cycle, it's a minor story. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

Ex-ICE agent’s group awarded $158 million to represent migrant children

The Trump administration gave the contract to Our Rescue, which former agent Tim Ballard left in 2023 before being accused of sex trafficking.

A TV talkshow host running the Pentagon? A podcaster running the FBI? A kook with no medical background running the National Institute of Health? A home builder with no intelligence as Director of National Intelligence? Gamers as air traffic controllers? This is not a serious administration.

This by CNN is genuinely reprehensible. Everyone involved should be embarrassed. -The 'new pain' case vs Mamdani is *solely* his religion. -He was in NYC on 9/11, at grade school -Soon after attack GWB himself gave famous speech warning against blaming all Muslims for terrorism -25 yrs later, this.

Twenty-five years after the mayor of New York City became the champion of America's grief and resilience at the time of the 9/11 attacks, families of those killed are split on whether the current mayor should attend the annual remembrance. https://cnn.it/4zkKYdc

I know this has been pointed out many times by many people but I just want to reiterate: Anthropic is basically using Kurt Vonnegut's drawing of an asshole as the Claude logo

The president's authority as "commander in chief" refers to the military only. The president cannot use executive orders to expand the definition of who is eligible for birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment. The president's aide saying these things is a virulent white nationalist.

Stephen Miller: "The president is using his authority as commander as chief to sign an executive order using the new ruling the Supreme Court issued to expand the definition of people who are ineligible for birthright citizenship. That includes, for example, alien enemies ... "

I first got 1000+ pages of court documents from Miller & Moreno's custody case. Anybody can request these from Cuyahoga County. I reviewed those by myself, one by one—no AI involved!—and the filings pointed to police reports. I then sought those out separately and spent days combing through them.

Now, any couple who gets married in City Hall can request a pet certificate upon uniting their household! 🐾 This certificate is dedicated to the shared commitment, love, nurture and proper cuddles our pets bring to our lives. Be sure to bring your pets to make the ceremony paw-fect.

The imminent flight that I mentioned at the end of this story has taken off. Sounds like it’s going to go Senegal - Ghana - Central African Republic, with the latter two being third-country removals. At least one of the immigrants being sent to CAR is from Nepal.

NEW FROM ME: A frenzy of cruel and unusual ICE flights over the last few days suggests the Trump admin is ratcheting up its ethnic cleansing campaign. And it may be increasingly desperate to find willing collaborators. My breakdown: gillianbrockell.com/frenzy-of-cr...

And who does Morning Joe have on to discuss the DSA? A progressive Democrat? No, three conservatives: Jim VandeHei, Jonathan Martin, and Mark McKinnon. When Troy Jackson appears later, he dismisses the DSA fringe: not worth talking about.

We introduced this map a decade ago to address a vexing problem: Every member of Congress gets just one vote, but traditional maps over-emphasize rural districts while making urban districts invisible. "Land doesn't vote," people often respond. This map is our take on that.

We've got a fantastic announcement: The Downballot has just released a new version of our one-of-a-kind "hexmap," which shows every congressional district as the same size. @donnermaps.bsky.social has been hard at work updating it for all 10 states with new maps. Check it out here! 🧵
