One quibble: "the traffic crisis inflicts direct economic harm". This is a recurring claim. The evidence is questionable, and is typically used to justify road expansion schemes such as the #GalwayCityRingRoad, which has been sought since the late 1990s. Galway did not stop growing since then.

The BusConnects Dublin Road project in Galway has had planning permission for over a year. No mention of any funding to build it in #Budget2027 or the press releases. It would have greatly improved bus journey times and cycling safety in Galway. #speirgorm

The NTA, according to its own senior management, does NOT have the necessary powers outside the Greater Dublin Area. It's necessary to plan and design proper public transport services in order to develop local and regional strategies. But let's not kid ourselves. The NTA is seriously deficient.

Sadly, only the design was our responsibility. You have to take up the rest with NTA, which has the powers to both develop needed infrastructure and hold the operating companies to account.
