Is there Irish academics who could point me in direction of relevant papers on socio-cultural reasons behind the heavily centralised style of government through history of Irish nation antithetical to proper consultation on environmental issues etc. #speirghorm #speirgorm #academicsky

It’s 90 degrees in the Arctic right now
The Arctic is heating faster than the rest of the planet. New data illustrate how dire that is

Tradesman working at your house? Let him plonk his van on the cycle lane so you don't have to bother making space in our driveway or anything.
There's been at least one van or truck on the footpath at this section of Grange Road, opposite Loreto Beaufort, every time I've passed in recent weeks. Today they blocked the cycle lane as well.
Oh no. Exactly what everyone who knows literally *anything* about it said would happen did in fact happen. Wow. So now all the other know nothings in other governments around the world who are planning on giving away everyone's privacy will stop and think for a single second, right? Right??
Australia’s eSafety commissioner buried a report (released Friday afternoon) that shows the under 16 social media ban didn’t tangibly reduce teen social media use, and also resulted in parents tuning out of kids usage. We traded our privacy for no reason. theconversation.com/more-than-80...

Greenway users forced onto busy national road in peak tourist season as farmer closes route
Users of the Great Western Greenway have been pushed out onto the N59, a national secondary road with a 100km/h speed limit, for around a 200-metre section of the greenway between Westport and Newport after a farmer closed a shorter section outside of his farm. The section closed by the farmer amounts to around 40 or 50 metres, but because of fences and greenery in the way, detouring around the closed section involves using the main road for 200 metres.

If a elderly 83yo driver tots up 24 (!) penalty points for speeding through a camera close to her home, it indicates she no longer has the capacity to drive and DVLA should revoke until she passes a driving test. I don't give a fuck if it's famous author Lynda La Plante. Ban her before she kills.
The cost of public & active transport infrastructure gets scrutinised within an inch of its life while motor vehicle infrastructure spending at whatever cost is treated as an unarguable necessity, if not ignored entirely. As here, motor vehicle infrastructure is overwhelmingly a terrible investment.

Comment & Analysis: A cost of €85,000, or €1,416 per space, for a secure bicycle shed for the National Maternity Hospital is cheap compared to building car parking, which is estimated to cost €5,000 to €85,000 per space in 2025. Added to this are the health benefits of staff cycling to work, including the general finding that active commutes mean fewer sick days (sources: …

Any chance you'd keep footpaths free for those who need them most and stop parking on the footpath opposite Dundrum Garda Station please? Ignoring the school pencil bollards is NOT a good look.
We were on patrol in Rathfarnham yesterday when we came across this 4x4 parked in disabled parking bay without the proper permit. A FCPN was issued. Please keep these spaces clear for those who need them most. #SaferRoads

Lazy fash didn't bother removing the pro-immigration stickers, just stuck his drivel on top, making it easy to remove his and replace with more positive materials. I love the Racist Repellant spray bottle in particular.
Significant escalation in the anti-anti-immigration-sticker campaign. Look who got some NEW stickers, with a slightly different message. I'd love to see the look on yer mans face when he sees these.
