'You'll choke too' - an aerial embroidery landscape inspired by all the wildfires happening right now... I'm upset every time I smell smoke outside and somehow we have people starting them maliciously too! But we all breathe the same air so they'll choke too (1/2 - see thread for close-ups)

An embroidery hoop containing a sewn landscape from above. It shows a forest on the right, a line of fire and charred ground with smoke on the left. The smoke is felted wool.

El Sayed: "When it comes to trans rights, this is the right to get the health care that you need...It’s the right not to be discriminated against by your government because of who you are. Because what tends to happen is they come for theirs, then they come for yours"

The idea that we can assent to the taking away of anybody’s rights, and think that somehow the government won’t come for all of our rights, is itself the problem. And, look, I don’t need people to understand how they use their rights. I just need people to agree that the government shouldn’t be able to take any of our rights. I put my face on the ground thirty-four times a day, David. Most people don’t understand why I do it. I don’t need them to understand. I just want to have the right to do it. And when people decide that they want to take away my right to do that, I’ve got a problem. Now, I hope that everybody’s going to show up and say, No, no, no. You can’t stop that person or that community from reflecting and praying as they choose. Similarly, when it comes to trans rights, this is the right to get the health care that you need. That’s really what it comes down to. It’s the right to be who you are. It’s the right not to be discriminated against by your government because of who you are. Because what tends to happen is they come for theirs, then they come for yours, then they come for theirs. And at some point you live in a society where rights are negotiable, and that is not the America I was born in. It’s not the America I know and love. It’s not the America I’m going to allow somebody like Donald Trump to give us.

Fannie Lou Hamer said she didn’t know much about communism, but “if we push just a little farther than they think we should push... then they say, ‘This is communism.’ So I began to wonder about communists because from what the people is really telling us, it must be very good.”

Masked ICE thug just casually shooting pepper spray at a few old ladies standing peacefully on the sidewalk filming them in uptown Manhattan today. Just because these monsters are quieter now doesn’t mean they’re not still out there violating people.

ICE has been very active in my neighborhood recently. today someone filming the agents near a school got pepper sprayed fully in the face. they're clearly targeting the outer boroughs, probably in an attempt to stay secretive, but the local patrollers are staying on top of them

The wood with bees in it. Walking to this wood, which I recall has a tree with bees living in a split in a tree trunk. I’m listening to a recent Radio 3 Late Junction on headphones, and as I near the wood they happen to play a track which begins with a field recording of bees.

A small wood stop of a hill. A hot blue sky behind and above.

Three different photos of the wood, taken with different glass in front of the phone camera lens, combined.
