This is going to be an absolute farrago, isn't it?

I feel a genuine sense of nostalgia for people who at least took the time to learn the craft skills required for embezzlement.
George Santos + Kalshi = $35,000 CFTC fine
My health app is telling me I am close to achieving my "sedentary" goal for the day, and I am feeling mocked.
Always exciting to see a new-to-me fake Morley's. (Morley's are the boss of South London fried chicken shops, distinctive enough to generate a crowd of imitators: garethgardner.com/portfolio/mo... )
Wes Streeting casually asking a civil servant if maybe the military could get involved in clinical trials.
All money, minus processing fees for itch, goes to out of work game developers to pay for food, housing, healthcare, and whatever they need to make it through. Neither we as the organizers nor UVW take any of the money from the bundle. Game developers can apply here: uvw-cwa.org/hardship-fun...

Hey pals, one of my contracts wraps up in September, so I'm looking for new writing, narrative design, and creative direction contracts, short or longer term. Remote, most timezones except Australia. Preferably USA (I'm a night owl!). Flexible on days per week. Reach out! 💜 hannahnicklin.com
Not _great_!
don't think non-Brits have been following the Spycops scandal, but it's nuts; not only was the government spying on entirely peaceful and legal activism , cops were regularly forming relationships with activists including in some cases fathering children. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...
I saw The Odyssey, in the sense of being in a cinema while it happened, but the whole three hours after seeing the trailer for "Digger" was spent thinking "rather than making Tom Cruise up to look like Bob Odenkirk, why not just get Bob Odenkirk in to play the character? He's a better comic actor!"
So.. was Wolfgang Peterson's movie Troy objectively better, because it did not do as well? Or objectively worse because audiences in 2004 were less stupid and ignorant, and stayed away, instead making the modern masterpiece Shrek 2 2004's most popular film?
People keep wearing trousers in the Odyssey and I don't understand why.
I have to say, "Scotland 'on Fire'" is perhaps the man-bites-dog here.
When the story of why humanity didn't stop climate change is written, it will feature front pages like this. Even as the skies blacken with climate change-induced wildfires, right wing media continue their relentless crusade against measures to tackle it.
Sir, You Are Being Hunted finally made it to console, just fourteen years after release on PC. It's out now on Switch, PS5, and Xbox. To my fellow game dev fans: don't miss this post-mortem! It's the story of a series of lucky breaks—being in the right place at the right time.
One thing I never did was a post-mortem of Sir. Perhaps this is as good a time and place as any to talk about some of that. It started in 2010 when Channel 4 had some money to spend on making educational games. For some reason they asked me. ->thread
Ironically, Johnny Depp playing Ebenezer Scrooge in a prequel to "A Christmas Carol" that was neither requested nor desired is, itself, a visitation from the The Ghost of Jared Leto Yet To Come.
Everything about this looks like a 30 Rock joke, right down to it looking as if it has cost only about as much as a 30 Rock joke to put on screen.
Also, Yvette Cooper's shed is covered in bunting.
Starmer's leaving speech in full "I am confident that Britain is now stronger and fairer than it was two years ago. "Our economy is stronger. Our public services are on the up, with the biggest fall in waiting times for 17 years. Children are being lifted out of poverty every single day."
In a very real sense Burnham owes Shanaba Mahmood a lot, but I think this may not be strategically the best way to thank her.
I mean, counterpoint - should it be the job of the licence fee to maintain that infrastructure, or should it be focused on creating and distributing content, with the infrastructure maintained by the government and paid by taxation? I have no firm opinion on this.
The licence fee is the biggest bargain in the UK. Not only do you get dozens of TV channels, radio stations, websites, apps, educational resources etc but it supports the infrastructure that enables all terrestrial TV.
King Charles told me the public keeps eating his prime ministers so l asked how many prime ministers he has and he said he just goes to the parliament and gets a new prime minister afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding prime ministers to the public and then his son started crying.
King Charles III is about to welcome the fourth Prime Minister of his reign, which is not yet four years old.
I finally watched Man of Steel and, with no disrespect to Antje Traue, I can't help thinking about what it would have been like if the part of Faora had been played by Natasia Demetriou. Also the part of Lois Lane. Also the part of Martha Kent. Potentially in a Nutty Professor style.
Impressed that they managed to get one of the street gangs from Enzo Castellari's classic "1990: The Bronx Warriors" to do the half-time show at the World Cup Final.
based on the trailer alone I don't think Chris Nolan even played Mario Odyssey
Very much enjoying Thomas Tuchel's Werner Herzog-like readiness to fight any interviewer at any time over any question.
Away from the World Cup, I'm saddened to see the demise of OnePlus as a brand in Europe, America and the UK. Although it was clearly moving closer to Oppo, and OxygenOS was moving closer to ColorOS, having a challenger brand I think had some benefit in keeping the major players on their toes.
