“mythos will solve the vulnerabilities in the software made by people we deem okay to have safe software, everything else can rot” this is how these people sound

It's a tool. Always going to be script kiddies using tools to try and do shit they don't understand, usually failing. For those that do understand ... "AI accelerates exploit development. Knowing how to turn a bug into a shell still takes expertise. AI makes that expertise more productive.*

“Lots of people are being tricked by AI into thinking they have an exploit when they don't, because they can't read or understand what the LLM gave them,” Taylor told 404 Media. “It doesn't appear to be anywhere near as exploitable as the other ‘stop the world’ vulnerabilities i.e log4j, heartbleed. But patch your servers, it’s still a vulnerability. Please do not paraphrase me as saying ‘there is no vulnerability’ for any reason. There is, and people should patch.”

Dan Guido, the CEO of Trail of Bits, a well-respected cybersecurity company that partners with OpenAI on the Patch the Planet initiative, posted that his company had created “a working exploit,” and that “Will Tan built it in 1 day with Codex, drawing on ~10 years of system security and vulnerability research. AI accelerates exploit development. Knowing how to turn a bug into a shell still takes expertise. AI makes that expertise more productive.”

wrote about "Black October," the PHP vulnerability, and the AI-fueled dread and panic I'm seeing among almost all of the cybersecurity experts I've ever known. I think people w/ LLMs are brute forcing software the same way they brute forced social media w/ slop www.404media.co/php2shell-bl...

ICE causes man to wreck while his children are in the car, then tries to pry his kids from his arms. They got the wrong guy. Toward the end of the video, an ICE officer says law requires the person recording to back up 25 feet and threatens with pepper spray. (There is no 25-foot law.)

Oh I guess migrating from a pfsense firewall/router, with its php web management, to a Unifi Gateway a few weeks ago was fortuitous timing.

One of our cats has taken up the habit of, first chirping, then screaming, at my wife if she is talking while he's trying to take a nap on the couch next to her.

Hacking a voting machine (as suggested in the teaser) isn't the problem. That's how you find and fix weaknesses. The problem is that they were told not to tell the vendor (or anyone else) what they found, so the result could be kept on the shelf and used to cast doubt on election outcomes. Yikes.
