Holding that if the state can at all be justified it is by ensuring that no one in its purview is homo sacer (or, more realistically, attempting to ensure that as few as possible are) and seeing this shit does make me feel that my days of being sympathetic towards anarchism are coming to a middle.

One of the last projects I did as a testing technician, a couple years later once digitization was complete and the archive was cleaned out, was a survey of the condition HVAC equipment serving the records archive as part of preparation for reuse. It later was renovated into hospital pharmacy space.

When I was an HVAC testing technician one of the first projects I worked on was a data center in Burlington, MA that had been built to digitize Lahey Hospital’s records. Before then, they’d been held in a two story physical archive that used an enormous amount of space in the hospital.

I was talking about this today with a colleague, the other problem with data centers is people love to blame AI for them, but AI is only like something like 10% of floor space in data centers now. The rest of it is the fact we all love to post a lot of bullshit online, and disks take up space

Talking to a friend: fundamental advances in technology? Oh you mean do bad stuff faster? nah hard pass. changes in modeling values relationships and incentives? yeah all in baby

I think this is my first voice post to blue sky. I am definitely loving the /rc thing. At least I get more walking in even if they all make a mess
