That’s it. I retire. No fanfic about Sylvain Jose Gautier’s gay awakening at the RNC could adequately satirize the REAL LIFE ACTUAL RNC putting hasan piker’s meat pic on the Jumbotron

The global price of oil has just reached $100/barrel as Trump's war in Iran continues. Oil prices have skyrocketed 40% since the start of the Iran war.
I continue to think the optimal compromise on policymaking around social media is that we should ban it for kids but also ban it for adults.
Musk invested in Twitter with the thesis that there is almost nothing he could do to destroy it's network effect, and that thesis seems basically validated. I remain convinced he could put a portrait of Hitler at the top of the For You feed and people wouldn't stop using it.
Not only could they have not done it but the US would instead be enjoying an era-defining boom the likes of which it's not seen since electrification in the 1920s.
As unpopular as the Iran war is, the coverage still doesn't do justice to the fact that they just could have not done any of this. There was literally no reason beyond general bloodthirstiness and incompetence.
As it turns out there’s actually a big lever labeled “economy” in the Oval Office but it only goes in one direction so nobody else has ever pulled it

@tacobellquarterly.org has officially launched its health bulletin imprint
Taco Bell understands what's at stake They want you to live más, not live menos
It’s worth noting that Taco Bell identified the source before the FDA did, and promptly pulled it from their stores. The FDA didn’t even name the source until Taylor Farms outed themselves, and hasn’t issued a recall. Basically, Taco Bell is now a more reliable authority than the FDA.
Taylor Farms, which supplies major fast food and grocery chains, was identified as the possible source of the cyclosporiasis outbreak Thursday.
maybe it's not woke to say so but these bog people from the northern barbarian mists simply should not be depicting a civilized race like the greeks
15yo: people are saying that Lupita Nyong’o shouldn’t be in The Odyssey because she doesn’t have the right look. Like, for racist reasons. So now I tell people that I’m not going to watch the movie because Matt Damon and Tom Holland look too pasty and non-Greek. It can go both ways!!!
shoutout the chucklefuck pundit who insisted once that “environmental racism” was a nonsense term
Elon Musk's xAI has installed more than double the number of gas turbines than it has publicly acknowledged to power its Colossus 2 data center project, without federal permits, and the pollution is hitting predominantly Black neighborhoods the hardest reut.rs/4bIghEm
guys, taco bell is the only place that reported the parasite on their lettuce because the trump administration decided companies don't have to report it anymore. that means taco bell is likely one of the safest places because they cared enough to report it anyway. don't be fuckin marks.
the “our audience is resist lib wine moms but we hate them” happened to both pod save america and the new york times
The thing about Pod Save is that from 2016-2020, their core audience was Resist Lib Wine Mom Establishment Dems. And the entire time, they looked longingly at the dirtbag leftist media sphere, which they were banned from for the aforementioned core audience. In 2020, they tried to bridge the gap.
I don't want to see these guys so much as knock doors for any future campaign.
Meet the team who vetted Graham Platner. Their reaction after the interviewer asks about the Nazi tattoo speaks volumes.
Platner's lies were so powerful because they were so obvious. we knew he wasn't really a working class hero, that he wasn't a doofus who got a Nazi tattoo and kept it for decades, that he wasn't just a kind of befuddled guy to date. he was a man who could get away with anything. a man with power.
just like with Trump, the obviousness and openness of the lie was a major part of Platner's image. for the beltway elites, he was a clear example of what you can get away with, that there really is a sucker born every minute. the more obvious the lie, the more momentum he was said to have!
this is what happens when you want politicians who mimic Trump's postures - you get politicians who mimic Trump's behaviors these are literally the tools of our enemies.
if you got taken in by Platner: 1) center the experiences of those he hurt 2) admit you were wrong 3) spend the next few days figuring out how to not get taken in by a guy doing *exactly* the same thing next time, because there will be guys doing *exactly* the same thing for the rest of your life
there is a cohort of men who resent the responsibilities and obligations of adulthood — of the fact that you owe things to other people. it is a fundamentally childish impulse that they have reconfigured as the height of masculinity, and i think it informs the parasocial attraction to platner.
what a fucking asshole
I think the Platner thing hit me so hard bc it was one of the most protracted, widespread acts of misogynist gaslighting from my own side that I've seen. We were presented with an obvious violent scumbag who was constantly lying (badly, might I add) and told we were crazy for not loving him
the ongoing defense of Platner tells me that plenty of men on the left hate women more than they love their supposed principles
TIL that Platner's time as a bartender wasn't at some local bar, it was at a bar in Capitol Hill where big money national party consultants and other political operatives drink and do drugs together. That actually explains a LOT.
This was one of the more heinous things about Platner when it was written and it’s aged like raw milk in the New York City Sun.

“Loitering is not permitted in this area. Please proceed to a designated location. Thank you for your cooperation,” a surveillance machine tells a small cluster of National Guard members as they patrol the fenced off Reflecting Pool in the rain.
Man, I don't know whose teams are great or whatever, but the fact that both Ivory Coast and Cape Verde are going forward makes me happy. I hope they pull off at least one surprise in the knockouts.
If you're still using Sticker Mule btw, you should not do that
1. On Tuesday and with Trump's backing, Sticker Mule CEO Anthony Constantino won a competitive New York House primary—and likely a seat in Congress—after running on "aggressively detransitioning America." His extreme rhetoric must be a warning to us all.
