You can/should read Emily Wilson's latest take on the Odyssey, but I'm logging on to convey my hairdresser's reaction. She was AGHAST that Nolan, with his million $ budget, gave Matt Damon ONLY 6 hair extensions. As a result, his hair did not blow around properly, & that ruined the film for her.

I keep thinking about how, for some reason, DS9 feels like the X-Force to TNG's X-Men. Primarily because, unlike TNG, like, every member of DS9's cast can Fuck Shit Up to some degree.

Just got out of Powell & Pressburger's adaptation of the Odyssey. The use of black and white for Odysseus' journey and colour for his home in Ithaca was a stroke of genius, and David Niven was inspired casting as Antinous.

Three shots: the beach at Troy, the beach on Circe's island, and the beach on Ithaca. All the dialogue was in Attic Greek *and* was muffled by the sounds of the waves. Ended w/BOB from Twin Peaks digging his way out of the sand.
