We're hiring a PhD candidate in Fair Climate Policy! Deadline to apply: 2 October werkenbij.rug.nl/vacature/pro... (Please note: Carina Havenga de Poel & @gpalomovelez.bsky.social are the contact people, and job interviews will take place in late October) @rug-gmw.bsky.social @rug.nl

NEW - I asked the UK government if they had assessed energy demand/emissions resulting from plans to make the UK an "AI superpower". The analysis they pointed me to seemed... pretty implausible. Just 0.1m tonnes of CO2 a year. My calculations suggest emissions could be 100s of times higher.

I'm hoping to get UG psychology students to complete preregistrations of their final year projects, anybody got any experience/advice? It will be for both qual and quant studies, and I want to keep it as simple as possible (i.e. not mandatory or assessed). Thanks!!

Thank you Gonzalo for joining us online, some really interesting and thought-provoking research presented today, we've all learnt a lot! Thanks too to @ehbea.bsky.social for the funding to support this workshop

Just presented some results on the communicative value of sustainable buying in the context of a climate-related EHBEA-funded workshop (organized by @danielfarrelly.bsky.social and @Manpal Bhogal) Great work from researchers working on climate-related topics from an evolutionary approach.

Just re-posting this reminder of our upcoming workshop on March 28th. Places still available, and free & open to all! Book your place here: eventbrite.co.uk/e/darwinizin...

If only the evolutionary social sciences had more Margo Wilsons. Lovely piece from Daniel Nettle on how her work is "a particularly successful example of how you can bring evolutionary understanding to social science topics and be genuinely constructive; rather than just irritating people"

Margo Wilson, and how to do evolutionary human science

In October 2024, I had the great honour of travelling to Hamilton to give the Margo Wilson Memorial Lecture.  It was fifteen years since Margo’s death. Preparing the lecture gave me the oppo…
