this is just confusing the field of Illustration with the wider Visual Arts, and Illustration has served largely commercial purposes the entire time it has existed. most great Mucha and Leyendecker pieces were ads. If you want art that talks about the human condition, go to a museum

As a kid you think your the unicorn. As an adult you realize you're Molly Grue.

This is on my mind a lot. Kids benefit from a safe way to experience sadness, loss or fear because life is inevitably full of it. They need guided chances to process, ask questions, see cause/effect without having to live it. It leads to healthier adults with more tools in their emotional toolbox.

Kids need/deserve traumatic films. Films that show death or lasting consequences that aren't resolved almost instantly. Fear, anger, grief and frustration should be part of kids movies. Kids arent stupid, they feel big emotions just like adults, they deserve to see those experiences reflected back.
