Last year, 254 horses died in horse racing, alongside 641 recorded whip abuses. Most people would be horrified by these figures. If the sector is serious about its future, it must stop treating these beautiful animals as expendable assets.

Green Party County Councillor for Romsey, Cambridge 🇵🇸 🌈 🌍 -- Views expressed are my own and not necessarily the same as Green Party -- Promoted by Darren Green (Green Party) at 603 Newmarket Road, Cambridge CB5 8PA
When I was a kid we were taught that emissions were warming up the atmosphere, increasing the probability of things like wild fires, even in chilly old Britain. We drew pictures. We wrote to MPs. This was my neighbourhood yesterday My anger at the deniers, obstructionists & shills knows no bounds
A fifth heatwave. People at risk across the country. But the new Government is silent. Time to tax fossil fuel companies to fund firefighting helicopters. And to race to lower carbon energy and permanently cheaper bills.
This was a really powerful piece of testimony from firefighter, James Rodgers, who is someone experiencing #climate breakdown as literally a hot war.
"Ignoring extreme heat and raging fires isn't just complacency. It's a dereliction of duty." Experts warn the climate crisis is already costing lives and urgent action from the Government is needed.

I'm fed up hearing how difficult it is in a country with 67 million people in it. Especially since a country with 1400 million people in it, just did it. And it's, well we're constantly told, it's a big bad communist country. Putting people before profit, & reducing inequality. #TaxWealthNotWork
French forces held a fierce defensive perimeter around Dunkirk and lost 18,000 souls. 40,000 became POWs. Without their resolve we wouldn’t have our nation’s story. It’s estimated 20-60k French resistance fighters died during the war. You’re only diminishing yourself with comments like this.
Really pleased to host the Floodmobile in my constituency. Lots of people came along to talk about the problems they’ve had following flooding. I’ve taken up many cases like this. In Parliament I am pressing for real action on flood management.
How is it that people like Plutarch got it two thousand years ago, al-Ma’arri got it a thousand years ago, yet so many still don’t get it? STOP EATING ANIMALS! #GoVegan and #LiveVegan

Britain has entered a new climate reality, and the Government hasn't grasped it. Last week I led a debate on extreme heat and the cross-government action needed to protect us. Here's some of what I said.

Gary Lineker and 120 other UK millionaires have signed a letter, organised by Patriotic Millionaires UK, to Andy Burnham. It says: 'our new government must raise taxes on extreme levels of wealth for a fairer, better, more hopeful Britain. 'It's time to tax us, the super rich. #TaxTheRich ✅️
