AIPAC sucks and as polling shows is not representative of American Jews, but a message that is pretty much “shut up and dribble” or else we will be forced to believe antiemetic conspiracy theories is gross. If one orgs behavior is getting you there, that is on you.

"In Michigan, AIPAC Is Playing With Fire" As an ostensible defender of Jewish rights, it is unwise to behave like the stuff of antisemitic conspiracy theories. Ryan Cooper for Zeteo:

Between this and the op-ed praising Texas's new book curriculum asking us to just wave past the mandatory religious thing, it was a banner day and both promoted in morning newsletter.

Shameful: The #BrokenTimes hands David Ellison op-ed space rather than challenging his bullshit pap and propaganda about journalism with the receipts he has already delivered at CBS. That would be journalism. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/o...

It continues to fuck me up that we stay thinking about 9/11 but want to memory hole Covid so bad we're destroying the entire concept of public health in the US.

In the United States, there have been 103,436,829[3] confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 1,238,563[3] confirmed deaths, the most of any country, and the 17th highest per capita worldwide.[43] The COVID-19 pandemic ranks as the deadliest disaster in the country's history.[44] It was the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020, behind heart disease and cancer.[45] From 2019 to 2020, U.S. life expectancy dropped by three years for Hispanic and Latino Americans, 2.9 years for African Americans, and 1.2 years for White Americans.[46] In 2021, U.S. deaths due to COVID-19 rose,[47] and life expectancy fell.[48]

She lost to a guy AIPAC spent seven figures attacking and he proudly reveled in it. The one they backed came third. To call a Biss win "AIPAC bought" is grossly dishonest, and embracing it amounts to El-Sayed attacking an incoming Dem congressman who *agrees* with both of them about Israel & AIPAC.

AIPAC may have bought our election in Illinois, but we're not going to let that happen in Michigan. 5 days left to make them panic. Vote for Abdul on or before August 4th.

Running out of body bags, using forklifts to transfer corpses into makeshift morgues, a mortician conducting 200 funerals in a month when he usually does 30, crematories running at double capacity… And these senators just want to memory-hole it all www.nytimes.com/2020/04/30/n...

‘We Ran Out of Space’: Bodies Pile Up as N.Y. Struggles to Bury Its Dead (Gift Article)

The coronavirus crisis is overwhelming New York’s system for burying the dead.

I think Yglesias is basically right that audience capture is an exceptionally powerful force, far more than commonly acknowledged; the problem is that one of the best extent examples of this is Yglesias himself.
