Screenwriter. Overthinker. Not as helpful with the first thing as you might think. #preWGA

Last week when we were talking about “mean” movie reviews, I don’t think anyone mentioned Roger Ebert’s amazing takedown of the 1996 space gangster comedy, MAD DOG TIME, starring Richard Dreyfuss, Jeff Goldblum, and a lot of other big actors

"Mad Dog Time" is the first movie I have seen that does not improve on the sight of a blank screen viewed for the same length of time. Oh, I've seen bad movies before. But they usually made me care about how bad they were.
Watching "Mad Dog Time" is like waiting for the bus in a city where you're not sure they have a bus line. What were they thinking of? Dreyfuss is the executive producer. He's been in some good movies. Did he think this was a script? The actors perform their lines like condemned prisoners. The most ethical guy on the production must have been Norman Hollyn, the editor, because he didn't cut anybody out, and there must have been people willing to do him big favors to get out of this movie.
"Mad Dog Time" should be cut into free ukulele picks for the poor.

I'll make a real process post at some point, but for now sharing a little BTS of our optical glass matte shot. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma's theatrical release is this week, next week for some. See you at the movies!

If you're part of the BioWare or Sims community and want to talk about how those studios' queer characters and themes have impacted you and your fears for those series moving forward after this sale, I'd love to chat with you for a Kotaku story. Can be reached here or email kshepard@kotaku.com

Well, I guess Electronic Arts belongs to Saudi Arabia, private equity, and Jared Kushner now. https://kotaku.com/electronic-arts-officially-belongs-saudi-arabia-jared-kushner-now-2000721666

Well that was really quite beautiful. Highly recommend it. ‘The Ballad of Wallis Island’ An eccentric lottery winner hires a folk duo who split years ago to perform for him on his island.

Poster for the film

They were careless people … they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.
