They say it's the 38th anniversary of THE BLOB today but actually he turned 80 in June.¹
Bay Area friends: would you consider opening your home to these two cuddly cats? A friend found them behind a gas station. Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.
A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

I do believe this movie could work now but only if it was called THE FUCK PURGE and JB Smoove was in it constantly saying the title.
That Sex Purge movie was only going to work as a 1988 thing written by Julie Brown where due to a cosmic ray men and women can't be in the same space without setting off a deadly chain reaction save for one night a year. And it's so bouncy and full of DEVO songs there's no space to think too hard.

Saw an interview with Tim Matheson talking about his time on the Beav and was so relieved to hear that everyone on set was kind to him. (And I feel vindicated that he watched his episodes in adulthood and couldn't get over how well-directed they were.)
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
The only reason BlueSky is a thing is that it gave people fleeing Nazi Twitter a plug-and-play place to reconnect with the people and formerly good parts of Twitter they enjoyed without turning every conversation into an edge lord fight club of bigotry.
Bluesky's new CEO Toni Schneider on the platform's reputation for being a liberal bubble: "Yes, we definitely want that to change. It is already changing. It certainly wasn’t designed to attract one specific group of people."
"I'm entitled to whatever I want whenever I want it for any reason and I don't care what satisfying these urges does to me or the world" well okay dude, seems like there's something deeper going on here, but that's just my take
Oh yes, the original INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE out on 4K in September. I saw that movie three times in the theatre and I still don't know why.
If he needs money that bad why doesn't he just start an onlyfans?
George Santos has been fined $35,000 for attempting to place bets on his own attendance at the State of the Union in February. He’s also been banned from the prediction-market platform Kalshi for 3 years.
'I won the Bedminster Club Championship with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t! President DONALD J. TRUMP"
Just watched ERASER 4K (RIP Chuck Russell), which I hadn't seen in full since the theatre. Is there a reason both it and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, released a month earlier, feature a character named William Donahue?
Holy mackerel, Vinegar Syndrome is putting out THE FIRST DEADLY SIN, which is basically Frank Sinatra's SEVEN. You even get to see him act alongside Joe Spinell.
HOWARD THE DUCK turns 40 today. A true calamity that inspired nothing except maybe the most personal review I ever wrote. filmfreakcentral.net/2021/08/howa....

The Bigod 20 cover of "Like a Prayer" and the Schneider cover of "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" are better than the originals.
Post your hottest music take. Mine is New Order is better than Joy Division.
Any Canadian #S&H friends need a pair of kitties? They’re bonded just like our boys (well…maybe not quite like them! 😉), and there’s even a Gordo joke to be made, as kitty!Starsky also needs some help with his diet! #StarskyAndHutch
Happy Friday from adoptable kitties, Starsky and Hutch! These Ginger Gems are cuddled up in their favourite spot, they love their sunny windows and they love spending time with each other and with their people too! They are both such wonderful boys and they are going to be terrific forever family

Trump: "If we're not in office our country will be invaded at levels that make Spain look small time. That's gonna be a talking point for the midterms."
Watched Criterion's lovely 4K edition of PEE-WEE'S BIG ADVENTURE and somehow only just picked up on how the colour scheme of his bike follows him everywhere (Mickey's red and white convertible, Simone's white cap with red flower, Jan Hook's crisp white shirt and bright red lipstick...).
Didn't realize "Furious" is based on Bob Rafelson's BLACK WIDOW, a movie I may have watched a few dozen times at age 13. Used to be that adapting a film for TV was a process of defanging, but "Furious" is considerably grimmer than its source material.
