I was deputy M.E. at the WSJ when Murdoch took over, with a similar “editorial independence board.” Within 4 months, our top editor was gone, replaced by a loyal Murdoch deputy. That board raised a quivering objection, but the deed was done. If the Ellisons own CNN, they’ll do whatever they want.

This is a subhed for the ages in the WSJ this morning: “Talk of heading off artificial intelligence’s potential role in destroying humanity hurt some stocks and helped others”

In terms of capitulation, Kleins’s is something else. He faces absolutely no regulatory pressure, has no government funding or contacts. He just felt the need to say “I’m one of you.”

Shameful: The #BrokenTimes hands David Ellison op-ed space rather than challenging his bullshit pap and propaganda about journalism with the receipts he has already delivered at CBS. That would be journalism. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/04/o...

“.. he was met with applause from roughly half the room .. before turning toward new #WHCA president Jacqui Heinrich, who smiled .. and embraced the man who had just spent more than an hour assailing the work of those seated before him.” @passantino.bsky.social www.status.news/p/the-white-...

If Andy Beshear doesn’t call for a special election before August 3rd and force Mitch McConnell to prove he can speak in a video, then Andy Beshear becomes the new Merrick Garland. I’m sorry but I make the rules.

It’s so cool that our bodies work in such a way that you can accidentally brush your hand against the stove pulling a pizza out of the oven and have a mark on you for the rest of your life reminding you you’re too dumb to cook pizza
