Eòrpach fhathast / immer noch Europäer. Saboteur and enemy of the people, probably.

As well as a Britannia Magic Dome, Tories will build a Halo Array, a Stargate, a Dark Tower, and a Death Star - named respectively Spirit of the Blitz, Maggie's Opening, Boris-Dûr, and Churchill's Clacker - funded by sales of a new wellness smoothie made with carrot, ginger, and poor people's tears.

I think there’s a misunderstanding of the term “EU Accession negotiations”. Negotiation, in this sense, is primarily over how and by when an applicant will implement or align with each area of EU law (Acquis Communautaire), and then whether they‘ve done that. It’s not over *whether* they will.

Amazingly, Brits still talk about "negotiations". There are no negotiations to enter the EU. There are only countries found to meet membership conditions, as confirmed by the EC and approved by all MS. Conditions are set in 35 acquis chapters, progress of alignment with monitored by the EC annually.

This is a poor take that suggests Owen Jones doesn't know much about Russia in the 1990s, including Russia-US or wider Russia-West relations in the 1990s. By giving only one part of the story, he is repeating the Russian political elite's self-serving line that it was all the West's fault. Long 🧵

The West helped create Vladimir Putin. A senior Western diplomat warned in 1994 where capitalist 'shock therapy' would take Russia. They ignored him - and ended his diplomatic career.

England is a made up thing. It has no basis in the ineluctable laws of nature. Its extent is defined by Edward II getting his arse handed to him. Athelstan conquering York. The Welsh of Cumbria were incorporated, the Welsh of Gwynedd were not. It is a political idea, an aspiration - not taxonomy.

Jacob Rees-Mogg, the most stereotypically Tory conservative man of the 21st Century, responded to Suella Braverman with a long-form video criticizing her position and rejecting a race-based theory of Englishness, and in response has been ratioed by the increasingly feral British online far-right.

"It turns out that he isn’t as orange as he looks." SDLP leader Claire Hanna reacts to Trump's comments on Irish unity. "I'm not sure if anybody has checked on the DUP. I suspect they're burning those Trump flags as we speak."

The far right agenda is not a grievance that can ever be settled. That is why we are where we are now, a place where there is a live conversation about who is a 'white Briton' as per below. I am not clear what it will take for people to understand the seriousness of the situation because ...

Restore Britain's Rupert Lowe declines to say whether King is a 'white Briton'

Restore Britain leader Rupert Lowe has declined to say, when asked, whether he thinks the King is a “white Briton”.

It comes after Lowe said “white Britons will become a minority by 2063” in a video in which he offered to work with Nigel Farage’s Reform UK.

The BBC’s Nick Robinson asked Lowe about the issue on the Today programme on Thursday, noting that the forecast he referred to defines a white Briton as someone whose parents were both born in the UK.

Robinson told the Restore Britain leader that “because Prince Philip was born in Greece, King Charles is not, under your definition, treated as a white Briton”.

More of this nonsense in the "British expat press". As I've said, these articles are the font of the misinformation that is poisoning Euro-UK relations. Genuine pro-Europeans have to get a handle on this Some points: α. The UK chose Brexit A 🧵

“We want to restore the dream of retiring in Spain and end the heartache of Britons forced into the nightmare of leaving because of the 90-day rule"
“In an ideal world as part of the alleged reset between the UK and the EU, we would see a return of the freedom of movement, but one step at a time.”
New Prime Minister urged to rebuild UK-EU ties and lift restrictions on Britons overseas
Ten years on from Brexit pressure mounting for the UK to rejoin the EU: would mean an end to the 90-day rule for Britons

I really need people to understand that Palantir is not an engineering marvel; it is a multi-billion-dollar contractual containment layer wrapped around the world's ugliest legacy open source frankenstack. It's a shitty Snowflake for companies that don't know how to do data engineering.

It's the 10th anniversary of the dumbest moment in modern British history so let's celebrate some of the idiots who made it happen. First up ... Jacob Rees-Mogg and his promise of cheap food and wine... In fact food prices have increased some 12% as a direct result of Brexit (LSE) 1/5

How are things in Belfast? Are the people with Legitimate Concerns about paedophilia attacking unionist politicians’ homes in response to the Donaldson verdict? They aren’t? How strange. Their Concerns seemed so Legitimate when they were burning foreigners out of their homes a few weeks back.

Hard to know if this deserves a *Bwah hah hah hah* or a *sad trumpet* You can feel the seething Europhobic rage. Good. This is Brexit, my quitter chums. You have driven the UK car industry to its lowest level in modern times, not us. 1
