This is correct. The current incarnation of the GOP and particularly the MAGA movement make my job feel less stable and make me feel less safe as a Jewish person.

I'm on "the left" (non-socialist but believe in a high taxes, expansive welfare state, regulated markets, strong unions, green policies, less militaristic foreign policy, left on "social issues"). I think much (but not all) of the left is deeply un-pragmatic and terrible at building a "big tent."

The Conference of Presidents would have you believe that words matter so much that Mamdani's words about Netanyahu directly provoked antisemitic violence in NYC... but words are also so irrelevant that the words of Israel's Minister of National Security say nothing about Israeli state policy.

Had a lovely conversation in English and Hebrew with my Israeli locksmith. He grew up in Beersheva but has lived in the Philly-area for a couple of decades. His Tunisian mother is Orthodox and lives in a settlement near Hebron, but his politics are closer to mine than they are to hers.
My top conversation starting t-shirts are my Expos, Habs, and Nordiques shirts, and one that says “Montreal bagels are better than New York’s.”
