As a research project, I built a needed tool with Claude Code. I though it would be a disaster, but It wasn't. I have some complicated feelings about it.

I think I come down to the "you put your name on it, you vouch for it unconditionally, every word, regardless of LLM use" side of the debate rather than the "you should explicitly say if you used an LLM always" side. Too much potential to use the machine to dodge accountability

LLMs feel unknowable. I find this viscerally unpleasant. Yes, computers are unfathomably complex but each level follows predictable rules you can understand with reading, logic and trial and error. (Conditions apply.) Dunno how to understand X00 bn parameters. Perhaps at some level it can be done?

“Cautiously optimistic about <small area>, extremely scared about <large areas>” is an AI take I think I’m hearing more frequently from serious people.

I have come away from my last conference cautiously optimistic about how useful AI can be in reversing malware and extremely scared about all of the new attack surface being created in the use and deployment of AI tools.
