@jpaulreed@jpaulreed.com · 2w agoTelling someone they’re the expert on a topic, arguing with them about said topic, and then saying “Well, let’s agree to disagree” is… a choice.
People can be vicious and hostile to foreigners who are of the same "race." Race and racism are constructs of modernity, whereas what might be called xenophobia is as old as civilization itself. And I think there's an argument it's a more universally powerful force because it's far more adaptable.
Reminder, the Bullwork is a RIGHT WING org. Just because the faces have been showing up on left wing and centralist podcasts to be anti trump, doesn't change the fact they are right wing and do not want to see leftist policies succeed. They are 'if the democrats could come to the right more' guys.

We only refer to it as "peer pressure" when it's kids. We always call it by the larger, mature sounding "cultural norms" when it's adults. Too embarrassing to call it "peer pressure" when you're grown, when they're grown.
