On the subject of AI. People don't realize how important what @courtneynash.bsky.social is writing about here is to the whole scene: resilienceinsoftware.org/news/11560646 If you believe this take [and I do] it completely changes how you think about integrating and applying AI to engineering work.

The Hugging Face incident was “both notable and alarming,” EFF’s @evacide.bsky.social told @sfexaminer.bsky.social, “not because ‘ooh, the model’s so powerful,’ but because it demonstrates a colossal failure on the part of OpenAI to secure the sandbox in which it was testing its model.”

Chat is it bad when the LLMs have more pushback against DHH's racism than half of the Ruby community?
Lost count how many times in my career that has happened tbh
Telling someone they’re the expert on a topic, arguing with them about said topic, and then saying “Well, let’s agree to disagree” is… a choice.
People can be vicious and hostile to foreigners who are of the same "race." Race and racism are constructs of modernity, whereas what might be called xenophobia is as old as civilization itself. And I think there's an argument it's a more universally powerful force because it's far more adaptable.
Reminder, the Bullwork is a RIGHT WING org. Just because the faces have been showing up on left wing and centralist podcasts to be anti trump, doesn't change the fact they are right wing and do not want to see leftist policies succeed. They are 'if the democrats could come to the right more' guys.
The vibes may be exciting, but if Democrats are going to win this year and in 2028, they must reject the DSA. If you’re tempted by a democratic socialist this year, think of what use Republicans will make of these victories, and ask whether you want to do favors for fascists.

We only refer to it as "peer pressure" when it's kids. We always call it by the larger, mature sounding "cultural norms" when it's adults. Too embarrassing to call it "peer pressure" when you're grown, when they're grown.
It’s so frustrating that Martinez is such a good goalie, because that team deserves to lose based on sheer assholery
This is the food supply chain equivalent of “[software] is insecure because they put out a lot of CVEs” It’s GOOD that they patch and disclose a lot of vulnerabilities, actually. Who you really need to worry about are the ones who don’t think they have any
A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!

"The great achievements of civilization have not come from government bureaus." — Milton Friedman. They were driven by individual liberty and free markets. And they always will be.
I’ve said elsewhere and I don’t care if this bothers some. A LOT of Dems/leftists are just as racist as the right, they just think they’re classier about it.
This is why Dems are reluctant to run on retribution, despite its popularity. They want the power he accrued and the surveillance infrastructure he formalized. Period.
