The most annoying thing about that post about the sfx library blowing up yesterday is all of the people that think it has literally anything at all to do with warner bros animation itself. Sound Ideas has been producing that same set of sounds for 40 years and it just goes on sale sometimes.

SCREEN Act, which would have required mandatory age-verification for sites (like this) that allow "material harmful to minors" failed to pass out of committee after thousands and thousands of people called their Senators. More work ahead!

The SCREEN Act just failed to pass in the Senate Commerce Committee! 🎉 Enormous thanks to the thousands (!!) of you who told your Senators to vote no! Your voice matters and you should feel good that you made a difference. Obviously, the fight isn't over, but this was an important victory.

The media's takeaway from an El-Sayed win is the same as it would have been from a Stevens win, and the same as it will be if El-Sayed wins the general, or if he loses it: everyone, no matter who they are, needs to take several steps to the right.

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

(3) COVERED PLATFORM.— The term "covered platform" - (A) means an entity - (i) that is an interactive computer service; (ii) that- (I) is engaged in interstate or foreign commerce; or (Il) purposefully avails itself of the United States market or a portion thereof; and (iïi) for which it is in the regular course of the trade or business of the entity to create, host, or make available content that meets the definition of harmful to minors under paragraph (4) and that is provided by the entity, a user, or other intration conten provider, with

The other day the algorithm fed me 1 part of a 5 part series of some woman targeting a romantasy writer with “why I think her book series is AI generated” and it was just…vibes. With a caveat that said “just my opinion” Trying to ruin someone’s career over vibes AI has created collective paranoia

The way that everyone sees fantom AI in original work now is such a fucked up secondary downstream AI nightmare consequence. People can’t critically identify real art any longer and so everything gets accused of not being original. I don’t know how we climb out of this hole.
