I don't understand why the Tea Party is seen as some ur-event in contemporary Republican politics when that was downstream from the real break-out moment in 2006; Bush getting blindsided when rolled by the right on his truly admirable immigration reforms. If you want the root of RINO, look there.

I mean, the answer is pretty obviously - and this hurts my quasi-libertarian soul, but the reality is the reality - taxes into space. I just don't know how your market wartime taxes to the upper income brackets during peacetime.

It seems really clear that by 2028, we're going to have an empty SPR, substantial munitions shortages, greater strategic challenges, a larger national debt and substantially higher bond rates which will massively constrain future administrations.

I fundamentally do not know how to square the politics whereby Democrats will essentially have to tell the American people that because they (the voters) made an extremely stupid decision, they need to lower their expectations substantially for the foreseeable future, but here we are.

I know it sucks, but Dems have got to be prepared to inherit a munitions-and-readiness hole that is going to be expensive to fill, but which will need to be filled. Hardly the only such hole, but it will be a big one.

I don’t think there’s enough vote for Stevens left but this will be a close result. My hope is that the El-Sayed/DSA/far left contingent don’t get despondent but realize that both factions need each other. It’s time to cut the shit and fight MAGA, not Democrats.

My read on the situation is that Rubio has prioritized his pet projects in Latin America above all else. And to this end, he seeks to preserve his position and avoid Trump's ire by being hands off on the substance of much of US foreign policy and by not seeking to impose any policy process on Trump.

A pet peeve of mine is when in restaurants they serve meat or fish with a bunch of fries. It feels cheap, now I am forced to eat this pile of dry fries, and if I want carbs or to dip in sauces I can use bread! Fries are not that good for dipping, I don't need fries!

Everywhere should be a hostile place for Republicans. They should not be able to find a friend anywhere. They should lose all their professional and familial relationships. They should be blocked from signing up to social media platforms, clubs, and yard sales. They should be ejected from fairs.

Fundamentally this is a desire for a return to the exclusionary grand bargain from before the Civil Rights era. Democrats abandoned that grand bargain in the 1960s, and a lot of white men have never gotten over the idea that they need to share political power with anyone who doesn’t look like them.

Is everyone aware of the General Motors streetcar conspiracy? In the mid-20th century, auto and oil interests bought up electric streetcar systems across the US and systematically replaced them with bus routes and paved roads, funneling commuters toward private cars.

There’s nothing you can write, signed or unsigned, that can stop a lawless, lying president from pardoning himself, his friends & family, or dropping/“settling” cases against them. I guess it’s nice to demand it anyway, so there’s something people remember later as a broken promise. But that’s all.
