Crop yields down, our countryside scorched and over 2800 people are dead due to this summer's heatwaves. Meanwhile fossil fuel giants are raking in record profits. We must end this rampant profiteering, and cut fossil fuels from our energy mix as soon as possible.

In the first 99 years of temperature records Bordeaux had one day over 40C (in 2003). In the 6 years from 2019, it had 5 days over 40C. This year it has had 6 days so far.

Train tracks buckling in the heat is causing serious cargo and travel disruptions around the world. #Italy came up with a solution years ago: painting the tracks white lowers temperatures by 11 degrees C. Hard to think of a more deeply damaging start to Burnham’s premiership than giving green light to new oil & gas in N. Sea, if true. It won’t lower bills or lead to greater energy security but will drive an even hotter planet. What a terrible signal to give to rest of the world #ClimateVandalism
