I kind of love the idea of defanging Citizens United by making campaign spending a sign of weakness rather than a sign of power.

I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

Has AI as we know and use it now even been around 5 years? I would look at you absolutely crazy if you said you couldn’t live without it. You’re 45. How did you make it to this big age then?
I've lived in rural (and urban-ish) North Louisiana going on 15 years. Mostly deep red, pockets of light blue. I've not seen people organize around any issue like the data centers. They won't beat Amazon's and Meta's money in the short term, but they're ripe for mobilization.

So far, the organizers mention data centers first at every single event. From racial justice orgs to old school activists who don’t usually think about tech policy. This has legs.
Conservatives scaremonger to their base about the sexual threat posed by outsiders (migrants, liberals, queer folk) solely because the hypothetical victims here "belong to" conservative men. But they reserve the right for those same men to treat their own property however they wish.
It's vital to understand that the conservative obsession with calling their political adversaries groomers, rapists and pedophiles while simultaneously protecting sexual offenders in their own party isn't a contradiction, but the result of an ideology that views rape as a crime of property damage.
